The products and services we review may not be right for your individual circumstances. Even their most expensive package is half the price of Vivint’s! It’s the better option for those on a budget, especially since there always seems to be an offer or sale you can take advantage of.
Within two days of installing the system, I received a helpful alert before bed one night that the front door had been left ajar. Frontpoint prides itself on having over-the-top customer service. After all, having a home security system should never feel like you are alone. So, if you have any questions or concerns, let us know, we will be happy to help. When we moved to our new home they were really helpful setting up our monitoring system and guided us every step of the way...
Do you want to partner with Frontpoint Security?
It was then time to install the sensors, so I followed the instructions to unpack the door and window sensors. Since they're already paired at the factory, all I had to do was name each one, test them, and install them using the included double-sided tape. Once I completed the sensor installation, the system was active. The subscription is for your professional monitoring, and you have three options to choose from.
What we love about Vivint is their wide range of smart home devices they offer in addition to their security service. You can tune into your security system remotely thanks to the Frontpoint app. The app is super easy to use, and will allow you to check on your home and watch your cameras in real-time with ease. Because of Frontpoint’s robust app, strong home automation capabilities, and innovative features like geofencing and customizable “scenes,” we rank them high in several categories.
Customer Service For You
It’s worth noting that the level of monitoring you get will vary depending on the plan that you choose. To have all of your cameras and sensors monitored, you will need the most expensive plan. With Vivint, you have the choice of three monthly subscription plans. These plans aren’t the cheapest, but the three options do offer a wide range of choices. Vivint is installed professionally, so all you need to do is sit back and relax!
However, some of these drawbacks could be changing with two new players entering the satellite market that claim their comp-anies will enhance and improve the capabilities of satellite internet. The Monthly Upload Limit refers to the total number of clips that you can upload each month. Like online storage, the basic video package comes with a 1,000-clip limit for monthly uploads. When you reach this limit, recordings will be paused until the following month, at which point the counter will be reset. The Online Storage Limit refers to the amount of clips that can be stored online at once.

Our track record with consumer privacy, surveillance spying, and unauthorized data sharing is pristine. Frontpoint respects every aspect of your life and believes that all customers should be free from suspicious behavior with their service providers. Whether it’s 110° or -10°, Frontpoint security systems keep on working. So you never have to worry about that snowstorm taking out your system.
The Frontpoint hub uses cellular communication to connect to all devices, but you can opt to connect it to Wi-Fi as a backup. You can spread the cost of Vivint’s equipment if you wish, but will be locked into a contract for five years that must be paid off. There's actually no way to avoid this , so you need to make sure that you can afford this cost before you make your purchase. Between the affordable starter pack and the more expensive family lookout, there is a kit and price to suit all budgets. Read on to explore the similarities and differences between Frontpoint Vs Vivint, to decide which security system best suits your needs. Before we get into our comparison, let’s start with a quick overview of each home security system.

Formerly a reporter and producer for the USAToday network, Rob has been a writer and editor for over 10 years. He holds a Master’s of Science with an emphasis on writing from the University of Montana, and he currently lives in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada. For all-around protection, you can customize your system with environmental sensors to alert you in the case of flood, fire, or a carbon monoxide leak.
This way, any and all issues you may come across can be resolved as quickly and as easily as possible. It should not be a struggle for you to get your home security company to help you take care of your system and keep it up and running. This is not the dentist, getting help should not feel like trying to pull teeth. Frontpoint is dedicated to giving its customers the absolute best and that will never change. Your safety and the protection of your home is our top priority, and we want to show you that any time you need us. Our monitoring team has you covered day and night and our support team is there to help you with any system issues or questions you may have.
Customers may also choose to DIY their security system package, building it from the ground up with Frontpoint’s long list of add-ons instead of choosing a pre-made package. All Frontpoint equipment — whether it’s part of a package or added on separately — comes with a three-year limited warranty. This is actually one of the better warranties in the industry. Ring Alarm, for example, offers a one-year warranty, and home security powerhouse Vivint offers a four-month warranty.
Before you consider satellite internet, do your due diligence and find out if your community offers other options such as standard cable, fiber optics or a faster-speed DSL connection. Your connection will be faster, perform better and cost much less. Download speeds for fiber optic connections are lightning fast, ranging from 250 to 1,000 Mbps. Some DSL speeds lag behind satellite internet speeds, depending on the internet service provider. Once you order your home security package from Frontpoint, you’ll be in charge of setting it up. Frontpoint’s Interactive Monitoring plan costs$44.99 per month.
Just choose your equipment package, add on any extra equipment you want (cameras, extra sensors, a keychain remote, etc.), and then check out. All the basic devices work as you'd expect them to, and the $65 indoor camera, designed by Alarm.com, is a solid deal. It offers 1080p resolution and a 110-degree viewing angle (I personally like wider-angle lenses for security cameras, but for an indoor option, 110 degrees will almost always do the trick). The camera is a breeze to set up, and as I mentioned before, can record and send notifications based on a variety of user-determined rules.
Both Frontpoint and Vivint offer 24/7 professional monitoring. This monitoring covers all your cameras and sensors, so you won’t need to worry while you are away from your home. When anything is detected, you will be notified and emergency services contacted if needed. That said, Frontpoint’s monitoring plan features are far from basic. You’ll get your money’s worth, if you ask us, since in addition to 24/7 monitoring, you’re also getting access to a suite of home automation features, app features, and video monitoring. All Frontpoint security systems are paired with a 24/7 professional monitoring plan.
