Having previously managed her own business for over fifteen years, Attracta changed career path in 2015 and joined the CareChoice Malahide Road team. Our team of NMBI Registered Nurses and QQI accredited Healthcare Assistants are skilled in providing compassionate individualised care for every resident. Our dementia friendly unit Birch is specially designed to enhance the experience of a person living with dementia. We know all our residents are individuals, they have families, friends, opinions and many diverse hobbies. Our fresh food is prepared daily by our Chef and our fantastic catering team, who often like to do a spot of baking. Our Head Chef is specially trained in the IDDSI framework for people living with dysphagia to make sure every meal is one to remember. We create our monthly menus with our residents and display our menus for all to see. We also cater for special occasions like themed evenings or celebrations in our Home. We provide specialist care for people living with dementia, with a focus on promoting independence. Our staff complete specialised dementia training, which helps them understand the needs of someone living with dementia. This training allows our staff to seamlessly fit into the world of a resident living with dementia, by using evidence-based practise to limit confusion and responsive behaviours. We offer a safe space where residents living with dementia feel comfortable and happy. All of our Homes are designed to combine your need for your own space, complete with all the things that matter to you and a good sense of community.
Any transition in life can be challenging – for you and your family – we fully understand that. At CareChoice, it’s our aim to make sure that that transition is as stress-free and pleasant as possible, and so we always work closely with Residents and their families to help them choose the care that works best for you. We have a very simple philosophy, and that’s to put our Residents firmly at the centre of their own care. Providing the best possible quality of life combined with the best possible care means working in tandem with Residents and families to carefully plan what that looks like for each and every individual. Activities can benefit residents psychologically, socially, spiritually, and physically. From a friendly game of bingo, cup of tea and chat, exercise classes or simply having a walk in the garden there is an activity to suit everyone.
We have a beautifully landscaped garden, pottery sheds and a polytunnel at the rear of our Home. This garden gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy the summer sunshine in a peaceful and relaxing environment.
Our staff are always available to answer any questions you might have and have a pro-active approach to all aspects within our Home. Our staff are friendly, and many are from the local area which gives a great sense of community in CareChoice Malahide. This makes the transition into our Home more relaxed and enjoyable for residents. CareChoice Malahide caters for 165 residents and is located just off the Malahide Rd and is surrounded by local amenities like shops and cafes.
With a full time, physiotherapist and our multi-disciplinary team, we have a wealth of experience in CareChoice Malahide. Our respite care gives them temporary relief which supports people’s ability to live at home for longer.
Our convalescence care can assist with recuperation and recovery after surgery, or serious illness. On average people convalesce with us from two to six weeks, but people can be discharged from care sooner depending on their health status and recovery. We pride ourselves on our Activities Programme, which co-ordinate outings and activities for our residents.
